Mike Klien's Short Sifter Extension

Hi Dave,

I thought I would drop you a note about the short shifter kit. When I installed it I really liked the way the car shifted, but thought the rod was way to short. So, after using it for a while I decided to length the shift rod. I had a local welding shop cut the rod just below the bend and add on about 3" in material. I'm about 6' 2" and wanted the shift knob at a comfortable height. As you can imagine it made the shift pattern longer. The shifting is still very positive and my wife likes it better because it does not take so much force at times to shift gears. I really like the change and highly recommend to anyone that feels the way I did. The only thing I would probably do different is only add about 1 1/2" to 2" below the bend. This would still be satisfactory and you would keep a relative short shift pattern. I now feel I have the best of both worlds. I have attached a picture - this is simply food for thought.

Thanks, Mike.
