The Shell Dunlop 962C cars were the last 962's to run as Porsche 'werks' entries. The participated in the World Sports Prototype Championship (WSPC) and the German Super Cup Series. They were in the 1988 Le Mans 24 hour race. This car led off and on but a water leak lead to an engine failure at the 12 hour point. The cars were painted as Rothmans at the time.

For 1988 they were painted as Shell Dunlap colors and raced at Le Mans but did not finish.

In Supercup racing this car won a 1988 race at Nurburgring.

The Joest Racing Team then purchased the cars, they have been totally rebuilt and fitted with the 'sprint' bodywork.
