Engine Description - Cylinder Heads

912_fig_10.jpg

The clylinder heads are symetrical left and right. The combustion chamber needs to be modified for the narrower sealing surface of big bore cylinders.

Each bank of two cylinders has a common, heavily finned, cast light alloy cylinder head with shrunk-in valve seats and valve guides. Helicoil inserts are used as spark plug seats. The cylinder head accommodates the valves in a "V" arrangement. No gasket is used between the cylinder head and the cylinders.
