Side by Side Views of Old and New Door Locks

The ears at the top right is the locking mechanism. The latch is released by pushing the this piece to the left against the spring.

You can see that the old lock has a pair of pins to mount the inner actuating rods that are missing on the new design.

Sorry about this picture. I took it with the parts upside down and rotated the image to provide a more realistic view of the locks. Unfortunately the shadows and perspective gives me away.
