At the Parts Obsolete Campout, June, 2003

With great sadness we must tell of the passing of my brother, Rick Hillman, early Saturday, July 19, 2003. After 10 hours in surgery for a liver transplant, his heart stopped for the third and last time.

In life his last week week was really a good one. His doctor had told him to reduce the amount of medicine he was taking for his liver disease and said he looked more healthy than the past 2 years.
airstream-2 He had dreamed of owning an Airstream Trailer over 20 years.
airstream-18 He bought one on Thursday to live in until he got his new liver and then to use for travel.

And Friday he was terrificly excited when Stanford Hospital called to say they had his new liver. At the hospital, when asked if he wanted to go through with the operation he said, "Absolutely". We held each other for a moment...

You can find evidence of Rick on these pages. We went to many Porsche events and other trips together during his illness, usually taking pictures. We will always treasure those times.

Rick displayed curiosity, intelligence, enthusiasm, humor and gentleness that made him excellent company. He was a gentleman. Our lives are better for having known him. We have lost a brother and one of our best friends. He was not dealt a good hand but managed it with considerable grace. Rest in peace dear friend.

He leaves behind his two older brothers, Dave and Pete and his mother, Marjory.
