Ready to Blow the Piston![]() Here is the setup ready to blow the next piston out of the caliper. It is well wrapped with rags to prevent brake fluid from being blown all over the shop and you when the piston comes free. The caliper should be mounted in a vise for this operation. A rag is wrapped around the piston to be freed. This is to prevent any damage to the piston and to contain the brake fluid when the piston pops free. The air hose nozzle has a rubber tip. I have seen this done with 160 psi air using the same setup. There is normally no need for hard fittings. In my case, if I extended both pistons to the disk with the brakes before removing the caliper, both pistons could be removed on all four calipers with a 90 PSI air supply. |
