Porsche at Le Mans 24 hour race

The annual race emphasized by Porsche more than any other has been the 24 hours at Le Mans at the Circuit de la Sarthe in France.

 1961 5-7-10  309 718 RS61/4 Spyder 2 class wins including Abarth co-driven by Ben Pon in 10th overall. This is now the Dean Watts car.

 1968 2-3 326  907 Lang Heck 908 had fastest lap and the pole. A 911T placed 12th. 3 class wins.
 1969 2-10 372  908 Fastest lap and the pole. 3 class wins.
 1970 1-2-3-6-7-8-9 343  917K  First overall win by Porsche with Herrman/Attwood driving. 6th place was a 914-6 GT. Porsche had pole position, fastest lap, swept all four class wins, Index of Performance (908) and Index of Thermal Efficiency (917L)
 1971 1-2-6-7-8-9-10 397  917K  Again 7 of first 10 places were Porsches. Pole position, fastest lap, Index of Performance (917K) and 3 class wins.
 1972 3 325  908/01 LH Coupe  Only one Porsche in the top 10. A Ford Capri was 10th! The sole class win was a 911S that placed 13th.
 1973 4-5-6-7-10 328  Carrera RSR  Index of Thermal Efficiency won by one of the Carrera RSRs. No class wins. GTS unlimited class won by a Corvette
 1974 2-7-10 312  Carrera RSR Turbo  Podium finish by Carrera RSR.

 1995 (6)  289  Kramer K8 Spyder WSC-Porsche  No factory produced cars in the top 10.
 1996 1-2-3  354  TWR Porsche WSC 95  2-3 were the first appearance of the factory GT1, loosing by 1 lap.
 1997 1-5-8-9-10  361  TWR Porsche WSC 95  In 4th was the Courage C41-Porsche and 7th was the Courage C36 Porsche
 1998 1-2  351  911 GT1-98  Aiello/McNish winning on the 50th Porsche anniversary, the last time Porsche has competed for the top spot at Le Mans.
