Porsche 956 One of 10 original 'werks' monocoques. Race debut was at the 1982 24 hrs of Le Mans where it placed 2nd of a 1-2-3 procession and was driven by Jochen Mass and Vern Schuppan. It then won four more races that year in Spa with Jacky Ickx and Mass, Brands Hatch with Derek Bell and Jacky Ickx and at Kyalami with Ickx and Mass. For 1983, a new Bosch Motronic injection system along with Rothmans No. 3 Livery, it won at Le Mans with Shupman, Al Holbert and Hurley Heywood, limping past the finish line, stopping after 100 feet with a seized engine. |
