Gallery - Ron Horton's 1972 911T

Hi Dave,
My name is Ron Horton and I am from the Tulsa, OK area.
Here are two pics. One is the day I picked it up from Dallas- My
youngest son went with me. The second is the car in my garage. It
doesn't run yet, but with my relentless if slow progression of work, I
will get her at least to start up before I rebuild the engine.

I just bought this car in North Dallas. It had sat for the last 15
years in a garage. The former owner said he quit driving it when it
was needing a quart of oil for every 500 or so miles. Engine is at
140K and I plan to do the rebuild myself (I couldn't swallow that
9-12K cost for the wrench to rebuild it therefore I am eagerly
awaiting Wayne Dempsey's new rebuilding book- I have read Haynes, but
not Bruce Anderson's "Bible" yet).
The car was owned the last 24 years by a lawyer who took very good
care of it. Everyone who sees the car is amazed at its condition and
the interior is nearly pristine for a car 30 years old. Other than
the battery boxes, there is no major rust spots to be found.
I have 4 kids ages 2, 3, 4 and 9 and I am a stay at home dad - after
teaching school for 10 years. This is my first Porsche and I am just
getting into it. Example - was in the auto shop for 24 mm wrench and
just inquired about new Bosch distributor and wires - $300 Ouch... no
- Double Ouch oh well, I figured I would put more into it than it was
worth before it was all said and done.
