Transmission Output Flange

031001-233.jpg

  • The driver's side transmission output oil seal has been leaking.
  • Here is the flange after the half shaft is removed, the grease cleaned up, and the inner snap ring removed.
  • The center aluminum piece is a plug that covers the attachment bolt.
  • The snap ring prevents the plug from moving.
  • To remove the plug, use two screw drivers and apply equal pressure under the center 'hat', prying against the flange.
  • The plug has an O-ring seal to prevent transmission fluid from getting into the flange and the CV-joint.
