Strap holding the transmission

  • Remove the two bolts on the bottom of the transmission holding the engine and transmission together.
  • Remove the two nuts at the top of the transmission holding the engine and transmission together. Lowering the engine a couple of inches will gain a bit of access. The nuts are accessible in the engine compartment behind the fan shroud. You can see the bolts.
  • On my car the bolt at the starter motor is a hex socket head. We found it was a standard bolt on a 1969 912.
