Carter Fuel Pump

030125-1686.jpg

The new fuel pump has a filter attached to the inlet to protect the pump mechanism from particulate matter.

This is a Carter-Federal-Mogul P60504 fuel pump. The produces a maximum flow of about 23 gal/min and 3.5 psi to the carburetors, both within the range of acceptability for the race car.

Most fuel pumps available today are for fuel injection systems, and have much higher pressures, 60-70 psi. These can not be used for carburetors unless the pressure is reduced to less than 4.5 psi.
